A Bit About Me

It seems like I've started a bunch of different blogs and never stuck to them. Hopefully this will be the one that I can actually stick with. I live a pretty painfully boring life and don't have much to talk about, I guess that's why I could never stick with a blog...figured no one would read it and if they did, they'd be bored to tears lol.

Anyway, about me. My name is Marie, I just turned 26 a few weeks ago. I live in Ontario, Canada and have lived in the same area my whole life. I share an apartment with my mum, who also just happens to be one of my best friends. We get along great, share expenses and keep each other company. I've been in a serious relationship for almost four years now and we're hoping to live together soon - the only issue right now is long distance and a lack of money on both our parts. We're both anxious for it to happen though...we spend a lot of time apart because of the huge distance between us, but I figure, if we can last this long with being apart more than we've been together and still be crazy in love, that's a pretty good sign. :-)

I'm working at being a freelance writer. I've had one story published so far (in fact, I got the email telling me they were publishing my story on my birthday last month - very exciting!), and I'm working on getting others published. It's been my life-long dream to be a successful published author, and I'm hoping this is the year it happens. I've been writing pretty much my whole life - I've written two novels on my own and one with my partner. I didn't really do anything with the first two, but my partner and I spent quite a bit of time searching for agents for our book. So far no luck, but we're not giving up. Now I'm concentrating on short stories, mostly erotica, and it was an erotic flash-fiction story that I had published last month.

I'm planning to submit a story to a contest today. The deadline is Friday (nothing like leaving it to the last minute), and it's all written, I just need to finish editing it and have someone else look it over for me to make sure it's ok. It's a story I wrote and sent in to another site but I haven't heard back from them, so I'm re-working it and sending it to this contest, hoping for better luck there.

Other than writing, I love to read, I'm really into amateur photography right now, I love music (especially U2), enjoy making tags in Paint Shop Pro, and spending time with my family and friends. I'm also really interested in the paranormal/supernatural...my partner is a medium, and we have plans to travel through North America and Europe some day doing ghost hunts. I'm still a bit wary, a little bit of a 'fraidy cat but for someone who grew up being petrified of the dark, I think I'm doing pretty good lol. Plus it'll help to have someone's hand to hold and it's another excuse to hold on tight and get really close...you know, when I inevitably get scared lol. My newest obsession is Ghost Hunters, I watch it two or three times a day lol.

I'm currently on what I like to call a 'Get Fit Journey'. I've been working really hard at it and I can see and feel the results. I'm about 100 pounds overweight right now. Up until recently, I would never tell anyone that but now I'm telling people because in a way, it holds me accountable. I don't want to be 100 pounds overweight and with people knowing that, and me knowing they know, it motivates me. I'm obsessed with the Biggest Loser, that show has given me a real kick in the ass to get going. Seeing all those people, some of them who are my size, most of them much bigger, all their health problems and life problems in general that have to do with their weight, it really opens your eyes. I've always struggled with my weight, have always been overweight, but I'm finally doing something about it. I've always tried and given up but not this time. This is by far the longest I've ever stuck with it, and I'm going to continue to stick with it because I can't live like this any longer.

My first goal is to lose 50 pounds by the end of June. My partner is coming for a visit and we're going to see U2 on July 3rd. We haven't seen each other in ages (except in pictures and on webcam) so it's really exciting and I want to be able to buy a whole bunch of new clothes for the occasion, and basically just look kick-ass lol. I have a cheap-ass crappy scale that doesn't work properly (one day it'll tell me I've gained 6 pounds, the next day, I've lost 4...I don't think so!), and I'm hoping in the next week or two to get a new one. I also took my measurements for the first time last week, and I'm going to measure myself every two weeks, and take a picture in the same spot, wearing the same outfit and that way I can see the results for myself. Once the pictures get to be not so heinous and disgusting, I might post some here lol.

I guess that's it for now. If anyone does ever actually read this, feel free to leave a comment, but please remember, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

One last thing, I'm on Twitter, so feel free to follow me here!
